The Magician, Space, and the Art of Play

Soundbites or words on a page can be powerful - but that is not enough to meet a human being on a deeper level. Imagination, the permission to experience all of oneself and consistent, purposeful effort in the service of something greater, is what creates deep and lasting change.

I've always known ‘magician’ was a viable career path.

Magicians inspire people to use all of their senses: you see what they are doing, you hear what they are saying, and you feel when they are about to execute something big and grand they're on the edge- and you're right there with them.

Most of all, magicians give you permission to dream impossible things, to believe in magic.

Magicians allow you to play.

Magician... a good career path for me, because I thrive when I am able to help others ignite all of their senses. Soundbites or words on a page can be powerful - but that is not enough to meet a human being on a deeper level. Imagination, the permission to experience all of oneself and consistent, purposeful effort in the service of something greater, is what creates deep and lasting change.

In other words, I let my clients play.

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”  ― W.B. Yeats
just jumping out of a suitcase in the woods to go to work…

Play changes business.

It changes how we learn, how we grow, and how we understand the world around us. It allows you to experience things we never thought possible…. Just like a magician would. I often say that understanding how our minds work is playtime for adults.

My favorite part of being a Consultório coach?  Bringing new ideas to life by helping others embrace all of our senses and feelings. I don’t want to give into the culture that can only handle soundbites. I want to bring you on a longer, deeper exploration with me, one where you taste and feel your experiences.

One where you believe in magic.

“...disbelief in magic can force a poor soul into believing in government and business....” ― Tom Robbins, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

The Magic of Space

To learn about the power of the mind, participate in play, and find the golden nuggets of enlightenment... we need space.  Luckily for us, we are surrounded by it and more than water, the element that makes up most of our body is space.  We already have what we need to learn and grow, but it’s so obvious, we often forget. A fish isn’t thinking “Look! I’m in water, everything I need to survive is right surrounding me!”  And humans rarely say, “Look! I have everything I need to learn, grow and know myself, It all exists in the space around and within me!”

Instead, we start to fragment, compartmentalize and segment. The spacious, open nothing that birthed us is eclipsed. We’re distracted, living somewhere between fantasy and horror film, confused about our usefulness and purpose or worthiness to even be here.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.” ― Roald Dahl

What do you Really Want?

People often ask me if a Consultório coaching is right for them. The truth is, only you know.

My coaching work is for people who endeavor to know what they really want. It’s for those who want to be present for life, not spectators. It’s for folk who want to be seen and given meaningful and exciting support and guidance.  It’s for people who ask the question, “Where can I go to be fully myself?”

It’s for people who want to play.

There are many ways to show up as a coach:

In one on one coaching I make a space for undivided attention, care and regard for an individual’s specific challenges and goals. In group classes and retreats, students uncover how to experience themselves in an open way while being in an immersive world. In workshops we find ways for participants to support each other and get accountable to themselves through writing and journaling. Sometimes we connect through video. At times it is done through silence. But most of all, it is done with play.

Having a somatic coach means welcoming the movement, all of the sounds, and resting assured that your ferocity and vigor will be held in a loving way.

Welcome to the party. We are so glad you are here.
